Thomas, St. Vieques Air Link tel. They also provide service to nearby U. There is good news and bad news about driving in Puerto Rico. First, the good news: Puerto Rico offers some of the most scenic drives in all the Caribbean.
Of course, if you want to stay only in San Juan, having a car is not necessary. You can get around San Juan on foot or by bus, taxi, and in some cases, hotel minivan. Now the bad news: Renting a car and driving in Puerto Rico, depending on the routes you take, can lead to a number of frustrating experiences, as our readers relate to us year after year.
These readers point out that local drivers are often reckless, as evidenced by the number of fenders with bashed-in sides. The older coastal highways provide the most scenic routes but are often congested.
Some of the roads, especially in the mountainous interior, are just too narrow for automobiles. If you do rent a car, proceed with caution along these poorly paved and maintained roads, which most often follow circuitous routes. Cliffslides or landslides are not uncommon. Some local agencies may tempt you with special reduced prices. But if you're planning to tour the island by car, you won't find any local branches that will help you if you experience trouble.
And some of the agencies widely advertising low-cost deals won't take credit cards and want cash in advance. Also, watch out for hidden extra costs, which sometimes proliferate among the smaller and not very well-known firms, and difficulties connected with resolving insurance claims. Horrible experience. Nothing Will never go there again. The staff was very very slow and did not care about customer service.
She was rude when I tried to get a time estimate after waiting 40 mins to be called up. The other staff members appeared to be very disorganized. After 50 minutes, we decided to leave. We never got the car and took our business to another car rental place that was much much quicker. Oh my, this place is a mess I rented here before with the same experience. This time I had to cancel because they were saying my online rate wouldn't allow me to use my private vehicle full coverage Also 2 different customers were accused of damaging their car while we were standing in line, both had taken pics and proved otherwise.
It is slow, rude, disorganized, poorly ran, etc. Not really. The biggest problem is with your estimating system. Wasted 1 hour of my trip trying to understand what happened.
Abrupt counter help. Slow and somewhat chaotic process for pick up. Waited for almost 2 hours to get my car — 90 minutes in line just to get to the desk.
The operation is totally disorganized. Despite bad reviews do only people with bad experiences review it was surprisingly a perfect drop off and pickup. They only had 1 van dropping off at the airport and cruise ships. Was not convenient getting back to the airport. Hertz reviews. Never got the rental! Hertz claims that kayak made the reservation without checking with them and there was no cars available. Never will use kayak again, horrible experience! Actually have a car available!
Car was not available. They were sold out. I was stranded at 7am with no rental car. Your prices. The hertz employee I do not recall his name was easily the most helpful and friendliest rental agent I have interacted with in SJ. And the car was excellent. Everything was good and professional. The car broke down and we lost one vacation day waiting for tow truck and new car. Plus the car was extremely basic for the price. They were very friendly and even came out to where we were staying to replace a key for us that was not working.
Very convenient to pick and drop off the vehicle right at the airport. My booking was cancelled, as I arrived 2,5 hours after the initial booking starting time. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy to figure out in terms of checking in and dropping off!
Avis reviews. Really great service all around. Friendly, courteous, and very helpful employees. I will rent again from them. Louder speakers!! Price is too high. It almost seems like car rentals are taking advantage of the situation. I arrived at AM. I waited in the hot garage with mosquitos for 45 minutes.
We got our car after The computer system was down so the 2 customers in front of me took about 25 minutes each. We showed up at AM, we should have gotten our car before We could have been allowed to wait in the AC instead of the hot mosquito infested garage The employee could have moved a little quicker. I would not rent here again. Staff was very friendly and courteous Overpriced. No mechanical problems, nice car We had a two week rental. On first day of the tental the agency called saying they had no cars leaving us stranded at our Airbnb.
He said they might have a car later or maybe it would be 3 days. For hours after that call they would not answer their phone..
Finally they did answer and he had one come in. Our car was given away, we never received the rentals We had no transportation. We reserved an SUV and they had none and could only give us a car. Nothing, you canceled on me 1 hr before arrival Yes. National reviews. U-Save reviews. Cleanliness 4 Comfort 3. They knew what time my flight was coming in but they did not notify me when I booked the reservation that their office would be closed when my flight arrived.
I called the national number. They said if I called the local number someone would pick up. They didn't. National number also said they would have someone call me back as soon as they opened in the morning. They did not. I called the national number several times in the morning but kept getting sent to voicemail with a promise they'd call me back.
They never did. Finally called the local number in the morning. He asked what time I arrived the night before and said they were closed at that time. Local guy also said said because I had not shown the night before he'd canceled the rental. I asked how could he help me now. He just said he couldn't.
Told me to go online to rent a car from them. I went online and the site said to call the local office to rent a car. At that point I just gave up. I received my rental and everything was fine. Two days into my trip the brakes on the car I rented failed and thank god I was able to stop the car. I then had to get the brakes replaced at my expense. Making the trip miserable.
I was reimbursed for the brakes after I returned the car, but in no way does that compensate for the moment you step on the brakes to find there are none. This company needs to remember that vehicle maintenance and customer safety needs to come first and foremost. No frills rental Great value. Insurance pusher Nothing They force you to take on their insurance if you cannot produce a letter for your insurance company proving coverage. The reference number is "". Please let me know what I need to do to get a refund.
No car Nothing. They didn't have the car for my reservation. They passed me onto an even worse car rental place, Sixt. Never go there.
Waste of time. U don,t save Well in the end you don't save. Not shown on my kayak reservation total. That's after we went through a big hassle discussion about insurance.
They would not honor my premier visa insurance. I had to call my Regular auto insurance co and get a copy of my policy for them. They also took an imprint of my credit card which they said they will keep on file for 30 days in case there is any additional charges or un discovered damage.
The whole thing made me pretty uncomfortable. Not even sure they can legally do that? No way! Waited 30 minutes curbside to finally call and receive no answer. Got picked up and driven to a hole in the wall building where the neighbor company was. Waited an hour while the person in front of us argued with the one service agent.
Finally got to the front where he tried to scam is into buying incredibly overpriced insurance coverage and toll road packages. Ended up having them drive is back to the airport to rent with a reputable company.

As a digital nomad, I love this podcast! It's always great to hear from people who are living life the same as me! Love what these two ladies are doing to show us how digital and global the world is. Can't wait tl listen to more episodes. The concept of the "digital nomad"--of living and working from wherever you want to--is very attractive. Once the province only of Eurotrash and "Lost Generation" types with trust funds, it's amazing to learn how affordable this all is.

The girls are super funny, smart, and have a ton of advice about traveling and the start up life. A lot of us telecommute because we like the flexibility of being to work from anywhere, but "anywhere" usually means at home in our PJs.
In the Workationing Podcast, you get to see what life is like for those who take their office-free worklife to the next level. Funny, upbeat, and interesting, Kari and Kelly take you along on their worldwide tour and share tips, tricks and an occasional cautionary tale for aspiring digital nomads. Expected it to be a bit of a button-down "We're sassy ladies working on the road" empower hour. Well, it IS that, but so much more. These broads speak truth. They get real, gritty, open about their lives, dreams and motivations to where you're following the podcast just because they're so relatable and actually DOING some of the crazy stuff you want to and can do yourself. Stick with this podcast a while as it developes.
You'll learn a lot about Kari and Kelly and—if we're being honest—about yourself. Also, it could lead to you untethering your OWN life and leaving the grind behind.
